Those who have seen the Addams Family movie will get the title. All others might be confused. After a couple of weeks of struggle, my grandma seems to be on the road to recovery and has been sent to a rehab home to help her learn to deal with the problems her strokes have caused.
My cousin headed back home and I have my home to myself. Things are almost back to normal, I can feel it. Still, when your grandmother is 91 and not doing well, this is the "new normal". She has gotten over the life-threatening issues at hand, but what is her quality of life? How much of her abilities will she be able to regain?
They say people are living too long nowadays, and I sometimes agree. My grandmother, in addition to the problems with the stroke, has dementia. How does she cope with all of that at once? I'm not entirely sure I want to get that old.
On the other hand, these are the last of the old granny women. My grandma was born in 1917. She knows what it is like to live without cars, the internet, or even electricity. Once these women are gone, will all the common sense old-school wisdom they had be gone? Or have we learned our lessons from these women?
Time will only tell. For now, all I can do is watch, and wait, and see what happens.

I'm so sorry. I've been through this more than once myself.
**hugs**

I think that wisdom will carry on. In fact I think you all know too much. You need less wisdom.
Seriously, they are a special generation. My great Aunt on my mother's side was always like a grandmother to me. She just turned 89. I still love to hear her stories about growing up poor in the south. They lived through some real hard times. Thanks to them, our hard times aren't nearly as hard.
