Leaving Kids Unsupervised At The Pool

Watsons_poolElizabeth at Career and Kids has a post about something I’ve been noticing a rash of: kids unsupervised in public places. She, like me, cannot understand how parents can take their kids to places like the YMCA and drop them off for 8-9 hours.

I especially am bothered by parents who drop their kids off unsupervised at public pools. Honestly, this is so dangerous, yet I often go to public pools and witness unsupervised kids- even small children.

Who does this? And why? I’m not one to judge, but this always worries me.

What do you think? Why do parents do this?

Our local Boys and Girl's club has drop off and the programs are supervised. I think the starting age is 10.

I'm DEATHLY afraid of swimming pools especially after I heard of dry drowning.

Yeah, sent me back 1000 years once I found out about that.
