Tomorrow, I’m going to get my oldest son out of school at 11:30 and we’re going to hop on the road for a road trip for his 14th birthday.

Oh, and there’s that little conference I’m speaking at, too, (if you’re in the Myrtle Beach area this weekend, come on out- it’s free!) but he doesn’t care about that. To him, this is his 14th birthday road trip. He doesn’t care that we’re doing this on a dime, he doesn’t care that we won’t be eating in fancy restaurants, he’s just happy to get to go on a road trip with his mom for his birthday.

I feel so lucky to have a kid who is that cool. When I was 14, I hated my mom and would have rather died than go on a road trip with her. I just hope my other kids turn out to be so awesome.
