Yes, Yankees, they call off school for just this much snow here. Unless your kids go to Metro Nashville Public Schools (sorry, Metro Nashville friends!), in which they need at least a half inch of snow in order to call it a school day.
Northerners everywhere laugh at how little snow it takes to shut down school here, but there are two reasons for this. First, Nashville is really hilly in many parts of it- I don’t know if you can see it in my picture, but I live at the bottom of a fairly steep hill. So if there’s the slightest bit of ice, getting up and down hills are a nightmare.
The other reason is because we don’t have a heck of a lot of salt trucks and snow removal equipment. Several years ago, I heard Williamson County didn’t even have a salt truck, they just borrowed from surrounding counties. This news shocked my Minnesotan uncle so much that he nearly fell out of his chair when I told him.
I’m off to build a "Scout and Jem" snowman!

So…jealous. We had a lot of snow between 7:30 and 9 and then it just pooped out. And now it's all gone.
WAHHHHHHHHHHHH.
