My oldest son handed me an invitation to a birthday party on Wednesday. He said "Mom, you need to call them back right away because the party is Saturday". Huh?

I thought he must have forgotten to give it to me but that was not the case. When I called to RSVP, the mother told me she was sorry for the last minute notice. Wow, that is pretty last minute!

Oh well, no harm done. There is nothing like changing your schedule around to run out and get a last minute birthday present. I hope I am not sounding too grumpy about it.

I enjoy taking my kids to birthday parties. I think it provides a wonderful opportunity to meet the other parents of my son’s friends. It gives me a chance to see the faces of the children that my son talks about. Which reminds, me… I need to make some calls to make a reservation for my own son’s party!  He is turning 9! Time sure flies.
