It didn’t hit us until my husband and I started wrapping the Christmas presents that we had bought for our children. We realized that once again, we bought too many presents for them. Every year we swear that we are going to cut back but have failed to do so.
Jen at Absolutelybananas.com realized the same thing and wrote "The Christmas recap with a MORAL for ME". She tells a great Christmas story with a lesson.
"If I put the emphasis on the presents… on giving so many, the right ones, more than last year, bigger, better, louder, larger… I take away CJ’s ability to see the other stuff. The magic. The love. The feelings. The IMPORTANT stuff. The stuff that DOES make you happy."
Her post really hit home with me. I do believe that I will remember this and buy less next Christmas.
