It’s all over my feeds today: the classic Sesame Street DVDs are going to carry a parental warning. How sad is that? My mom claims Sesame Street is the reason I taught myself to read when I was three years old.
A few years ago, Noggin was airing these old Sesame Street shows and I sat down and watched them with a lump in my throat. I remember how engaging it was and the shows weren’t the slick, overproduced things they are today. They were just good fun.
I’ll be buying these DVDs, and I’ll be showing them to my children. I really don’t think Cookie Monster’s overeating or pipe smoking is going to turn my kids into overeaters or pipe smokers any more than it did me. I’m unconcerned.

If they do this to old school Sesame Street, than they need to do this to Disney's Dumbo. There is a major pink Elephants dancing scene when they accidentally get drunk.
I can't believe this is even an issue. Crazy. I heart the old Sesame Street and I'm old enough to remember it!
