I will be having Thanksgiving dinner at my house this year. This will be the first time I have ever had the honors of hostessing Thanksgiving Day. I am so excited!
My family has always stayed in our home state for the holidays. Thanksgiving day was always celebrated at my grandmother’s house. For the past few years, my family and my sister’s family have been going to my Dad’s house instead. We then visited my grandmother on Friday. My Dad asked if we could have Thanksgiving at my house instead this year. I happily said yes knowing how much I will enjoy having my family at my home for a holiday.
Not everyone can stay at home during the holiday season. Thanksgiving is the biggest travel holiday of the year. Airports will be jam packed with busy travelers trying to reach their turkey eating destinations. It will be a zoo out there so luckily there is a little bit of advice for travel survival.
By Ken Levine The World As Seen By A TV Comedy Writer has some Thanksgiving Travel Tips. You can probably tell these tips will be funny from the name of his blog. Here are a few:
"Leave for the airport NOW. Especially if your flight is on Wednesday.
Bring no luggage. Wearing the same clothes for a week is a small price to pay.
Southwest has no reserved seating. Get in one of the latter groups boarding. You don’t want to be one of the first to sit then watch as fifty people glance at the empty seat next to you, then to you, and decide to sit somewhere else.
If you have children under the age of five tell your relatives one has an ear ache and make everyone come to YOU."
There are many other humorous tips in there so you might want to read the whole thing for a good chuckle. It sounds like he has done his fair share of traveling and knows the ropes!
What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Staying at home? Traveling?
