    Three’s No Crowd

Babies Kathryn over at Daring Young Mom is in a bit of a dilemma. She was offended when she found out that her favorite neighborhood bookstore has a sticker on their door basically telling people it is irresponsible to have more than two children, and isn’t sure whether she should approach them about it or not.

I come from a family of seven children and couldn’t imagine anyone telling someone how many children they should be allowed to have. Yes, humans make a big impact on the earth but that doesn’t give anyone the right to dictate the number of offspring a family wishes to bring into it.

When I go out with my  boys I get tons of "Oh, you must have your hands full!" and "Are they all yours?" And I only have three! And guess what, people! We plan on more.

America is slowly turning up it’s nose at large families and I, for one, am sick of the stigma that large families carry. No we do not live on beans and rice. Yes, I do know where babies come from and I am well aware of the existence of birth control. And, no, we are not trying to make our own soccer team.

Seriously, since when is three considered a huge number of children?

Bravo Sarah! I have 4 children and love it. I also know where babies come from and love those babies I have. In fact I enjoy it so much that after having 3 children myself, my husband and I adopted our 4th. I think that Kathryn should print this post and comments and take it into the bookstore.

We have 2 and plan on having 2 more, and people think we're crazy when we say it. Since we have a girl and a boy, people assume that's all we'd want. But kids are fun and loving and wonderful, and we want more. End of story. Why is that hard to understand???

3 is a huge family? since when? I come from a family of 5 and now I have 7 children of my own (all birth children.) I can only imagine the looks I would get in that store.

I have 7 children of my own, and I DO have to tell many people, "Yes, they're all mine!" and "Yes, my husband and I had all of them together." My husband, sick of the supposedly funny queries of "do you know that happens," has finally started answering yes, and that he LOVES it! Our kids range in age from 1.5 to 14.5 years, and we find that when one of them is gone, the house feels a little empty!
