Over at the LJ community Poor Skills, there’s a great discussion happening about parenting inexpensively. I always said babies aren’t that expensive, it’s when they get to be big kids, that they get to be expensive.
If you parent with more natural methods, babies can be very inexpensive- breastfeeding, co-sleeping, cloth diapering are all great ways to save money on baby stuff. Slings are far cheaper than strollers, and using "gently worn" clothing is not only cheaper, but cuts down on your ecological footprint as well.
Now, if someone can just tell me how to save money on my 13 year old’s class trips, moviegoing, band instruments, and cell phone bills. Oy vey.
