Stay At Home Moms No More

    Employeesonly
The days of the stay at home mom are long gone. We now live in a time that women are having babies much later in order to further their careers.  We also live in a time that two incomes are needed to pay the bills. Who is raising the children when both parents in the home work? That is the question. Is it time to make sacrifices in order that our kids get the benefits of being brought up by one of his or her parents?

The bloggers at Blogging Baby think it’s a good idea to make that sacrifice.  Their story is one that is not uncommon, but in today’s world it is happening all of the time……

"In the summer of 2004, my husband was involuntarily separated from the
payroll system where he worked. In other words, he got canned.
Considering he is the primary bread-winner in our house, this was a
    serious situation."

This was an extremely stressful time for them as you can imagine, but I believe they learned a valuable lesson. They realized that though they could have accepted jobs in other cities and uproot their family again, this would not have been the best thing for their daughter. This job loss allowed for a lot more time spent between father and daughter and what was first thought of as a nightmare turned into a blessing. He eventually accepted a position in a totally different field with less pay in order to be with his family.

I have been a stay at home mom for twelve years and in the beginning it was difficult. We struggled financially but made the choice to live with less in order to parent our children. Let me tell you, there are some days when I am doing laundry, doing dishes, driving carpool, covering my ears from my crying three year old and picking up toys for the eighteenth time that I wonder if it’s worth my sanity to continue. I have to remember that children grow up so fast and some day I will miss all of the craziness.

probably a touchy subject! lol.. I would have to say it just shows what a selfish society we live in.. I mean it was one thing when mom's went to work b/c the husbands were off in the war, but those days are not common (and those who are military get paid now).. we want more, and feel we need more.. but the truth is our society is going to beans b/c our children don't know what a family is anymore…
Anyhow, lovely blog, come by the 160 and get some party favors!
