When I was in college I lived in a large sorority house with 60 girls. One Saturday, every month, was what we called "All House Clean" day. Every single girl was assigned some sort of cleaning task from wiping down baseboards to scrubbing toilets. It was grueling work but someone had to do it and I don’t think they made cleaning ladies back then.
Since I’ve been a mom, I have carried on this tradition in my own family and every so often I declare an "all house clean day". Last Saturday was one of those days….
I gave each of my four kids a job with the reward of going out to play when their task was complete and sent everyone to their own domains. I decided my job was going to be to clean underneath the cushions of all the couches, and now that I think about it, I’m not sure I had ever done this before. Anyway, as I was cleaning I found an old pacifier. Now, my youngest is 4 so it had to be hers, I mean imagine what that would imply if it was my oldest’s (he’s thirteen). I picked it up and wondered just how long it had been there and which one of my kid’s it could be.
Back in those days, one never could tell whose pacifier was whose or what, but as of March 2006 those days are over with the Personalized Pacifiers from mypacifier.com. These are so cool, not only do they alleviate the issue of germs spreading, from one kid mistaking another’s pacifier for his own, but it gives each parent a personal way to track these inevitably missing objects.
These are such a great baby shower gift idea. Every mom registers for pacifiers and this gives it a more personal touch. Even if you don’t know if the baby is going to be a boy or a girl there are hundreds of phrases that can be put on these pacifiers other than a baby’s name. They come in different shapes and sizes according to the age and preference. I sure wish they had these when my kids were little. It almost makes me want to have another one…..
