Designing a nursery is one of the best parts of motherhood and while it is so fun to play with all the ideas and decorations that are available it can become quite overwhelming. There are literally hundreds of themes and decorations on the market for a baby’s room and while creating a cute themed room is important for many moms, choosing the right colors for baby is well….let’s just say, stimulating.
According to some child development experts, an early introduction to bright colors and shapes help to stimulate babies’ imaginations even at a very early age. We suggest instead of restricting color to monotonous tones, why not try a variety of bright blues, yellow, reds, pinks and greens to get your babies imagination working.
The bloggers at Design Talk have a few tips on how to create a kids’ room. They have found that blue is a great place to start with either a boy or girl’s room because it makes it easy to add a dramatic contrast with "clouds for swooping airplanes or beautiful green grass for decorative flowers". You can find more decorating ideas at Decorating Your Baby Nursery such as, stripes are a fun idea for visual stimulation. You can use red with white in keeping with a carnival or circus theme, blue and white in keeping with a sailing or nautical theme, and possibly yellow and white for a more gender neutral theme.
Once your colors are chosen then you can shop for bedding and accessories that will keep your baby’s room bright but easy to adapt to his/her changing interests.
